Zapier

Connect Cowpin to 7,000+ apps — save links automatically, or send new bookmarks anywhere.

The Cowpin Zapier app lets you automate your bookmarks without writing code.

What you can do

Triggers (start a Zap when something happens in Cowpin):

  • New Bookmark — fires when you save any bookmark.
  • New Bookmark With Tag — fires only for bookmarks with a tag you choose, e.g. share or to-blog.

Action (do something in Cowpin):

  • Save Bookmark — saves a link with a title, notes, tags, visibility and read-later flag. If the link is already saved, it's updated instead of duplicated.

Search:

  • Find Bookmark — looks a bookmark up by its exact URL. Combined with Save Bookmark it becomes Find or Save Bookmark.

Example Zaps

  • Starred items in your RSS reader → Save Bookmark with the tag rss.
  • Liked YouTube videos → Save Bookmark as read-later.
  • New Bookmark With Tag share → post to a Slack channel or a newsletter draft.
  • New Bookmark → append a row to a Google Sheet as a reading log.

Connect your account

  1. In Cowpin, open Settings → API and create a token named "Zapier". Copy it — it's shown once.
  2. In Zapier, choose Cowpin and enter your Cowpin username (Settings → General, without the @) and the API token.

Zapier stores the token securely; you can revoke it in Cowpin's Settings → API at any time, which disconnects every Zap using it.

Good to know

  • Privacy follows your settings. Save Bookmark's default visibility is "My Cowpin default", so if your account saves privately by default, Zap-saved links are private too. Pick Public or Private to override it per Zap.
  • Triggers check for new bookmarks on Zapier's polling schedule (every 1–15 minutes depending on your Zapier plan).
  • Rate limits are the same as the Cowpin API; Zapier retries automatically if a limit is hit.
  • Read-only libraries. If your trial or subscription has ended, Save Bookmark returns an error explaining that the library is read-only. Triggers and search keep working.

Under the hood the app uses Cowpin's Pinboard-compatible API, so anything a Zap does, a script can do too.
