Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Cowpin ("Cowpin", "we", "us"), a bookmark-management service operated by Cowpin LLC, available at cowpin.com. By creating an account or using Cowpin, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. Questions: help@cowpin.com.
The service
Cowpin lets you save, organize, search, archive, and rediscover bookmarks, including AI-assisted and Pinboard-compatible features. The apps are free to download; using Cowpin requires a subscription after a free trial (see "Plans, trial and billing"). A subscription is tied to your Cowpin account and applies on every supported platform.
Plans, trial and billing
- Free trial. Every new account gets a 14-day free trial of all features. No payment details are needed to start.
- Plans. After the trial, Cowpin costs $22 per year, or $51 per year for Cowpin + AI (the AI & Archive add-on: semantic search, "Ask your bookmarks", summaries, AI auto-tagging up to the monthly fair-use allowance, and on-demand full-page HTML snapshots). Prices are shown at checkout before you pay and may include sales tax where applicable.
- Payment. Subscriptions are billed yearly in advance through Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record for the purchase and handles payment details and applicable sales tax. We never see or store your full card number.
- Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing; you keep access until the end of the year you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds. For billing problems or refund requests, email help@cowpin.com. We honour any refund you're entitled to under applicable law.
- If you don't subscribe, or your subscription ends. Your library becomes read-only: nothing is deleted, and every bookmark stays visible, searchable and exportable. Saving, importing and AI features resume when you subscribe.
- Early users. Accounts created before paid plans launched (17 October 2026) keep full access at no charge. We'll give advance notice before that ever changes.
- Price changes. If we change prices, we'll email you before the new price applies to your renewal.
Fair use of AI features
AI features cost us money every time they run, so each account has generous monthly limits (for example, 1,000 "Ask" questions, 2,000 summaries and 5,000 tag suggestions a month on Cowpin + AI) and short-term rate limits. These are far above normal personal use. If you reach one, the feature pauses until the limit resets at the start of the next month; everything else keeps working. Automated or scripted use of AI features beyond personal use isn't allowed.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
Your content
You own your content. The bookmarks, notes, and other material you add remain yours. To operate the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, display, back up, and transmit your content solely to provide Cowpin to you (for example, to archive page text, run search, generate AI results, and show you your library). You can export or delete your content at any time.
You are responsible for the content you save and must have the right to save it. You agree not to use Cowpin to store or distribute unlawful content, infringe others' rights, or to abuse, overload, probe, or disrupt the service or others' use of it.
AI features
AI features process your content with a third-party AI provider to generate results (see our Privacy Policy). AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete — treat it as a helpful assistant, not authoritative advice, and verify anything important.
Availability and "as is"
We work to keep Cowpin available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service; features may change or break and data issues can occur. Keep your own backups of anything critical (you can export at any time). To the extent permitted by law, Cowpin is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cowpin and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.
Affiliate program
If you join the Cowpin affiliate program, the program terms at cowpin.com/affiliates also apply. In short: we approve affiliates individually; commissions are 50% of what a customer you referred pays (excluding tax) in their first year, become payable 30 days after each payment, are void if the payment is refunded, and are paid by PayPal once you are owed at least $25. You can't earn on your own account, and spam, paid search ads on the Cowpin name, coupon sites, and misrepresenting yourself as Cowpin are not allowed. You must disclose that you earn a commission. We may suspend an affiliate who breaks these rules; commissions already earned on legitimate, unrefunded payments are still paid.
Termination
You may stop using Cowpin and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, or discontinue the service, with reasonable notice where practical. On termination you can export your data beforehand; afterward we remove it as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and continued use after changes means you accept them.
