Reader highlights and Markdown export
Select text on archived pages, annotate, and export to Obsidian-friendly Markdown.
On this page
Cowpin’s reader works on archived bookmarks — the full page text Cowpin stored when you saved the link. You can highlight passages, add notes and colors, and export one page or your whole library as Markdown.
Open the reader
- Open a bookmark that has an archive snapshot (most saves after archiving is enabled).
- Click Read on the detail page, or go to
/app/read/<bookmark-id>. - If you see Nothing to read yet, archive the page first (or re-save so archiving can run).
Highlight text
- Select a phrase or paragraph in the reader body.
- Cowpin saves the highlight automatically (yellow by default).
- In the highlights panel, change color, edit the note, jump back to the quote, or delete the highlight.
Highlights are stored with character offsets on the archived text so they stay aligned when the layout reflows.
Export Markdown
This page: use Copy Markdown or Download in the highlights panel — exports quotes as blockquotes with optional notes and the article title.
Whole library: Settings → Account → Bookmarks → Export all highlights (.md) — one Obsidian-friendly file with source links grouped by page.
