Import Your X (Twitter) Bookmarks Into Cowpin
Cowpin
10/18/2026

Cowpin does not sync X bookmarks live from your account — there is no official “pull my bookmarks daily” API for strangers. What we do ship is an import path for the files X gives you in a data export, plus paste-in for the same formats.
That matches how we talked about BookmarkBrain vs Cowpin: Reddit and X archives in, not a proprietary X bookmark API.
Where to import
Settings → Account → Bookmarks → Import
Scroll to Twitter / X. Paste the file contents into the text area and click import. You can also drop a file into the general import zone — if it looks like an X archive, Cowpin routes it to the same parser.
Supported export shapes
The parser (twitter-import.ts) accepts:
| Export file (typical) | Format |
|---|---|
bookmark.js / bookmarks.js | window.YTD.bookmark.part0 = [ … ] |
like.js / likes.js | window.YTD.like.part0 = [ … ] |
tweet.js / tweets.js | window.YTD.tweets.part0 = [ … ] |
| Plain JSON | Arrays/objects with tweet ids, expanded_url, full_text, etc. |
Cowpin walks tweet entities and expanded URLs, keeps normal http(s) links, and
tags imports with twitter (plus your optional extra tag). Pure twitter.com/i/web/status/…
rows without an external URL are skipped — there is nothing to archive as a page.
What you get after import
- Bookmarks in your library like any other save — archive, tags, search, export.
- No automatic re-sync when you bookmark on X again; re-export and import deltas when you need them (same as most migration workflows).
Honest limits
- Not a Chrome extension that reads x.com’s bookmark UI in real time.
- Media-only or quote-tweet rows may import as the best-effort URL we can extract.
- Very large exports: import runs server-side; watch the success count in Settings.
Request your X data
Use X’s Download your data flow (account settings). Unzip and open the data
folder — paste bookmark.js (or the JSON you care about) into Cowpin.
Next steps
- Second-save playbook after any migration.
- Pinboard API if you automate saves going forward.
- Export highlights once you annotate in the reader.
