Cowpin for Mac: save the page you're reading with ⌥⌘B
Cowpin
10/18/2026

The fastest bookmark is the one you save without leaving the page. Cowpin for Mac 1.3 adds a system-wide shortcut: press ⌥⌘B (Option-Command-B) while you're reading in your browser, and a small panel appears with the page already filled in.

How it works
- Press ⌥⌘B anywhere. Cowpin reads the address and title of the tab in front: Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi are supported.
- Type tags. The cursor starts in the Tags box. Separate them with commas or spaces.
- Press Return. You'll see "Saved ✓" and the panel closes. Press Esc to cancel.
A few details that make it pleasant day to day:
- Copied a link instead? If no browser is in front, Cowpin uses the link on your clipboard and looks up the page's real title for you.
- Already saved? It says so instead of making a duplicate.
- Private by default. Quick-saves follow your account's privacy setting, like every other save.
- Menu bar. A bookmark icon in the menu bar offers the same save, plus "Open Cowpin", even when the main window is closed.
The first time you use it with a browser, macOS asks whether Cowpin may read that browser's current tab. Allow it once; you can change it later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
Small, native, notarized
Cowpin for Mac is a native Swift app built on macOS's own WebKit: a download under 1 MB, no Electron. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel (macOS 12 or later), and every release is notarized by Apple. It updates itself: it downloads the new version, checks that it's signed by Cowpin and notarized by Apple, swaps it in and restarts. Every release is tested that way first, including confirming that a tampered update is refused.
Before any release is published, an automated test drives the real app against cowpin.com: it opens the quick-save panel, types tags, saves, confirms the bookmark landed in the account with the right title, tags and privacy, and checks nothing in the panel is cut off. If any step fails, the release doesn't ship.
